Supporting local families with their household budget pressures, like cutting the fuel excise in half, saving you 22.1 cents per litre for six months. We’re also making a one-off $250 payment to 27,731 local pensioners and carers and increasing their regular payments. And we’re making childcare more affordable, benefiting 7,860 local families.
Our economic recovery plan lowers taxes for families and small business and invests in skills, infrastructure and manufacturing. Around 69,300 local low and middle income earners will receive up to $1,500 in further tax relief this year, including a $420 tax offset. While our investment in extra skills and training will lead to more opportunities and expanded wage subsidies for the 1,865 local apprentices. And our incentives will enable around 14,700 local businesses to write-off the full value of any eligible asset they purchase.
We’re investing in fixing local roads to save lives and reduce travel times. Major local projects include, Bruce Highway upgrades from Caboolture to Caloundra; Bribie Island Road upgrades, and major investments into D’Aguilar Highway upgrades at Caboolture to Yarraman. We’re delivering a new Bruce Highway Interchange at New Settlement Road and 10 bridges are being built between Caboolture-Bribie Island Road and Steve Irwin Way.
Investing in better services and a stronger Medicare by delivering more than 622,000 local Telehealth consultations. We’ve funded more than 2.7 million free or subsidised medicines locally over the past year and we are investing record funding in aged care to help the 27,388 seniors living locally. Public school funding will also increase by over 30% to 2029. Delivering more local GPs by securing Declared Priority Area status for our community.
I’m proud that we’re investing in our local communities, with better facilities and public spaces that families can enjoy now and into the future like the Sandstone Point Sports Complex upgrade, and $5 million for the Caboolture PCYC Development.
