Supporting local families with their household budget pressures, like cutting the fuel excise in half, saving you 22 cents per litre for six months. We’re also making a one-off $250 payment to 15,068 local pensioners and carers and increasing their regular payments. And making childcare more affordable, benefiting more than 8,830 families in Bonner.
Our economic recovery plan lowers taxes for families and small business and invests in skills, infrastructure and manufacturing. Around 68,000 local low and middle income earners will receive up to $1,500 tax relief this year, including a $420 tax offset. And our tax incentives will allow around 19,600 local businesses to write-off the full value of any eligible asset they purchase.
We’re investing in fixing local roads to save lives and reduce travel times. Major local projects include the M1 Motorway upgrade program with the Eight Mile Plains to Daisy Hill section underway, Lindum Crossing Upgrade, and the Newnham and Wecker Road Upgrade. And we’ve committed $450 million for the Brisbane Metro.
Investing in better services and a stronger Medicare by delivering more than 578,000 telehealth consultations since 2020. We’re funding more than 1.7 million free or subsidised medicines locally in the last year alone. And we’re investing record funding in aged care to help the 22,009 seniors living locally, while funding for public schools will increase by over 31% to 2029.
I’m proud that we’re investing in our local communities, with better facilities, public spaces and a healthy environment that families can enjoy now and into the future like a major $6 million investment to construct the Brisbane International Cycle Park – Stage 2 within Murarrie Recreational Reserve as a destination premier international cycling precinct, more than $500,000 PCYC Bayside Facility and more than $400,000 to upgrade Mt Gravatt Community Centre.
Our Plan is Building a Strong Economy for a Stronger Future
Creating more, better paid jobs.
Delivering tax relief for workers and small businesses.
Investing in roads, rail and renewables.
Making record investments in health and aged care.
Investing in stronger defence to make Australia safer.
