Capricornia

MICHELLE LANDRY has a clear plan for Capricornia

1

Helping Local Families with Cost-of-Living Pressures

Supporting local families with their household budget pressures, like cutting fuel excise in half, saving you 22 cents per litre. We’re also making a one-off payment of $250 for nearly 16,686 local pensioners and carers and increasing their regular payments. And we’re creating an extra 50,000 Home Guarantee Scheme places to help first homebuyers buy their own home.

2

Securing our Economic Recovery to create well paid local jobs

Our economic recovery plan lowers taxes for families and small business and invests in agriculture, mining, and manufacturing industries. Around 59,100 local low and middle income earners will receive up to $1,500 in further tax relief this year, including a $420 tax offset. And we’re investing in extra skills & training places.

3

Building Better Local Roads, Regional Highways and Dams

We’re investing in fixing local roads and building better regional highways to save lives and reduce travel times, including more than $820 million for the Rockhampton Ring Road project, $850 million for additional work on the Bruce Highway, $14.4 million to replace the Phillips Creek Bridge, $483 million to build the Urannah Dam, and we’re getting on with building Rookwood Weir.

4

Better Access to Quality Health, Aged Care and Education for Local Families

Investing in more local doctors and nurses by clearing their education debt when they practice and live locally. We’re delivering more than 360,000 local Medicare telehealth consultations and over 2 million free or subsidised medicines. We’re investing record funding in aged care to help the 21,500 seniors living locally and making childcare more affordable.

5

Protecting our Local Lifestyle and Enviroment

I’m proud that we’re investing in our local communities, with better facilities and public spaces and a healthy local environment that families can enjoy now and into the future, like $33 million for the Yeppoon Aquatic Centre and the construction of the Foreshore Convention Centre, $23 million for the Rockhampton Stadium in Victoria Park, and $425,000 for the rebuild of Collinsville QCWA Hall.

Our Plan is Building a Strong Economy for a Stronger Future

Creating more, better paid jobs.

Delivering lower taxes for workers and small businesses.

Investing in roads, rail and dams.

Making record investments in health and aged care.

A stronger defence force to keep Australians safe.
