Supporting local families by cutting the fuel excise in half, saving you 22 cents per litre for six months. We’re also making a one-off $250 payment to 7,854 local pensioners and carers and increasing their regular payments. We’re also delivering affordable childcare for local families.
Our economic recovery plan lowers taxes for families and small business. Around 81,900 Brisbane low and middle income taxpayers will receive up to $1,500 in further tax relief this year, including a one-off $420 Cost of Living tax offset. Our investment in extra skills and training will lead to more opportunities and expanded wage subsidies for the 4,480 apprentices already working locally.
We’re investing in fixing local roads to save lives and reduce travel times. Major projects funded include $450 million for the Brisbane Metro and the upgrade of the Commercial Road and Doggett Street intersection. I’m fighting for federal funding for Brisbane’s Green Bridges and to upgrade important roads like Newmarket Rd.
Investing in a stronger Medicare by delivering more than 558,000 Telehealth consultations in Brisbane since 2020. We’re funding more than 1.5 million free or subsidised medicines locally in the past year. We’re investing record funding in aged care while funding for public schools will increase by over 30% to 2029.
We’re investing in our local communities, delivering better facilities, public spaces and a healthy environment. I’m strongly supporting our local catchment and bushcare groups environmental projects, delivering major funding for improving the health of the Brisbane River, fighting to regenerate public green spaces and delivering better recycling options for Brisbane. We’ve committed to meeting net zero emissions by 2050 and our policies have supported the installation of 12,000 rooftop solar panels locally.
Our Plan is Building a Strong Economy for a Stronger Future
Creating more, better paid jobs.
Delivering tax relief for workers and small businesses.
Investing in roads, public transport, and renewables.
Making record investments in health and aged care.
Reducing emissions through technology, not taxes.
