Ted O’Brien has a clear plan for Fairfax
1
Helping families with Cost-of-Living Pressures

We’re alleviating local families’ household budgets by: halving fuel excise so you save 22 cents per litre; providing one-off $250 payment to 22,473 local pensioners and carers while increasing regular payments; making childcare affordable; helping home-buyers enter the property market, and; providing rental assistance to people struggling to make ends meet.

2
Securing our Economic Recovery to create well paid local jobs

Our economic recovery plan lowers taxes for families and small business and invests in skills, infrastructure and manufacturing. Around 69,800 local low and middle income earners will receive up to $1,500 in further tax relief this year, including a $420 tax offset. Meanwhile, around 27,700 local businesses can write-off the full value of any eligible asset they purchase.

3
Building better local roads, rail and reducing congestion

We’re fixing local roads and rail to reduce travel times. Major projects include $240 million to upgrade the Maroochydore / Mons Road interchange now underway, as part of our $10 billion commitment to the Bruce Highway; $390 million for rail upgrades now underway from Beerburrum to Nambour, and $5 million to design full duplication to Nambour; $160 million for the Mooloolah River Interchange on the Sunshine Motorway, and; $1.6 billion for a new passenger rail line that connects Maroochydore to Brisbane.

4
Better access to quality health, aged care and education for local families

We’re investing in better services and a stronger Medicare by delivering more than 551,000 local Telehealth consultations since 2020. We’re funding more than 2 million free or subsidised medicines locally each year and investing in record funding in aged care to help the 28,351 seniors living locally. We’ve extended our funding support to Bloomhill Cancer Care. Public school funding will also increase by over 30% to 2029.

5
Protecting our lifestyle and environment

We’re protecting our environment, including sustainable floodplain management of the Maroochy River catchment through the Blue Heart initiative. Our waste and recycling initiatives are working and our policies have supported the installation of 32,100 rooftop solar panels locally. We’re on track to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

Our Plan is Building a Strong Economy for a Stronger Future

Creating more, better paid jobs.

Delivering tax relief for workers and small businesses.

Investing in roads, rail and dams.

Making record investments in health and aged care.

Investing in stronger defence to make Australia safer.
