Supporting local families with their household budget pressures, like cutting the fuel excise in half, saving you 22 cents per litre for six months. We’re also making a one-off $250 payment to 20,774 local pensioners and carers and increasing their regular payments. And we’re making childcare more affordable, benefiting more than 2,413 local families.
Our economic recovery plan lowers taxes for families and small business and invests in skills, infrastructure and manufacturing. Around 80,200 local low and middle income earners will receive up to $1,500 in further tax relief this year, including a $420 tax offset. And our investment in extra skills and training will lead to more opportunities and expanded wage subsidies for the 3,020 apprentices already working locally.
We’re investing in fixing local roads to save lives and reduce travel times. Major local projects include upgrades to the M1 at Daisy Hill to Logan and Exit 45 at Ormeau, Beenleigh Connection Road, Beenleigh Redland Bay Road, and the Mt Lindesay Highway. We’re also spending more than $178 million improving Gold Coast Rail Line capacity at Kuraby to Beenleigh.
Investing in better services and a stronger Medicare, and delivering more than 702,000 Telehealth consultations since 2020. We’re investing record funding in aged care to help the 21,055 seniors living locally. We also funded the new Logan Urgent and Specialist Care Centre at Meadowbrook. While funding for public schools will increase by over 30% to 2029.
I’m proud that we’re investing in our local communities, with better facilities, public spaces and a healthy environment that families can enjoy now and into the future, like $3 million for Stage One of the Beenleigh Town Square and major upgrades to Loganholme FC, Ormeau FC, Logan Lightning FC, Chambers Flat Mustangs Rugby League Club and Bethania Cricket Club. And our policies have supported the installation of over 33,800 rooftop solar panels locally.
Our Plan is Building a Strong Economy for a Stronger Future
Creating more, better paid jobs.
Delivering tax relief for workers and small businesses.
Investing in roads, rail and renewables.
Making record investments in health and aged care.
Investing in stronger defence to make Australia safer.
