Supporting local families with their household budget pressures, like cutting the fuel excise in half, saving you 22 cents per litre for six months. We’re also making a one-off $250 payment to 12,774 local pensioners and carers and increasing their regular payments. And we’re making childcare affordable for local families.
Our economic recovery plan lowers taxes for families and small business and invests in skills, infrastructure and manufacturing. Around 71,800 local low and middle income earners will receive up to $1,500 in further tax relief this year, including a $420 Cost of Living tax offset. Our investment in extra skills and training will lead to more opportunities and expanded wage subsidies for the 3,305 apprentices already working locally.
We’re investing in fixing local roads to save lives and reduce travel times. Major local projects include funding upgrades to the M1 Pacific Highway from Eight Mile Plains to Daisy Hill and delivering safety and congestion upgrades for Boundary Road level crossing, Coopers Plains. And we’ve committed $450 million for the Brisbane Metro.
Investing in a stronger Medicare and delivering more than 557,000 Telehealth consultations since 2020. We’re funding more than 1.6 million free or subsidised medicines locally each year. And we’re investing record funding in aged care to help the 20,378 seniors living in locally, while funding for public schools will increase by over 30% to 2029.
We’re investing in our local communities, with better facilities, public spaces and a healthy environment that families can enjoy now and into the future, like $450,000 for Kuraby State School to install security fencing, lockable entry gates and alarm system to protect local students and property. And our policies have also supported the installation of 25,600 rooftop solar panels locally.
Our Plan is Building a Strong Economy for a Stronger Future
Creating more, better paid jobs.
Backing your hard work with lower taxes.
Investing in roads, public transport and renewables.
Making record investments in health and aged care.
Investing in stronger defence to make Australia safer.
