Supporting local families with their household budget pressures, like cutting the fuel excise in half, saving you 22 cents per litre for six months. We’re also making a one-off $250 payment to 19,287 local pensioners and carers and increasing their regular payments. And we’re making childcare more affordable, supporting more than 8,150 local families.
Our plan lowers taxes for families and small business and invests in skills, infrastructure and manufacturing. Around 71,300 local low and middle income earners will receive up to $1,500 in further tax relief this year that includes a $420 tax offset. And our investment in extra skills and training expands wage subsidies for the 2,680 local apprentices.
Investing in fixing roads to save lives and reduce travel times. Including ensuring $680 million to complete the upgrade of the M1 from Varsity to Tugun, having secured funding for earlier stage upgrades. And $6 million to the Gold Coast City Council each year to improve and upgrade local roads. As well as more black spot funding to improve road safety.
Investing in better services and a stronger Medicare by delivering over 604,000 local Medicare Telehealth consultations since 2020. We’re funding more than 1.8 million free or subsidised medicines available locally each year. We’re also investing record funding in aged care to help the 26,960 seniors living locally, while funding for public schools will increase by over 30% to 2029.
I’m proud that we’re investing in our local communities, with better facilities and public spaces and a healthy local environment that families can enjoy now and into the future, like the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary Australiana Precinct, Mudgeeraba Creek Restoration Project and construction of a new community garden. The Government has a fully costed plan for Net Zero emissions by 2050 and our policies have supported the installation of 24,600 rooftop solar panels locally.
